In early spring, amateur detective Geneva Pomolo receives a wedding invitation from a friend she hasn't thought about in ten years. Gladys Button has already been married six times-five of those marriages ended in divorce or annulment and the sixth ended in death. Now she's getting married again, and she wants Geneva to be there.

Baffled by the invitation, Geneva accepts. But when she and her detective partner Iris Reeves drive up to Fort Wayne to meet Gladys, they learn all is not as it seems. Gladys wants Geneva to investigate a murder-her own. She's become convinced that someone-possibly one of the wedding guests-is trying to kill her. Geneva brushes away the notion, but Gladys's worst fears are vindicated when she's poisoned just hours before the ceremony.

With no shortage of suspects, Geneva and Iris must bring all their training to bear on the most challenging puzzle of their careers. Each of Gladys's living husbands was present in Fort Wayne at the time of the murder, and each one has ample incentive for wanting to kill her...
