Sisters: A Novel

Germany in the late 1950s. Mandi is just a little girl when her sister Franziska leaves their small town in Franconia, Germany, in search of a bigger world in Paris where she wants to learn to become an interpreter. She falls in love with a young Turkish man, Onur Sahin and invites him to spend Christmas vacation in her hometown with her parents and her younger sister.

Problems arise when she realizes that she has outgrown the small-town mentality where everyone knows everybody and wants to control and punish those that are different. Franzi insists on living her life as she wishes and makes choices that will influence her relationship with her sister and haunt her for the rest of her life.
