In my frustration I made these three workbooks to work as a team: Simple Outlines (with basic instructions on effective simple outlines kids can easily do), Simple Rough Drafts (with word lists to help make writing interesting), and Simple Final Drafts (with space to illustrate each writing assignment, report, or story). The goal was to make their progress trackable (thus the sub-title: Trackable Progress K-3 Short Compositions Practice Workbook) so we could easily see their progress through the year - all in one nice professionally bound book. The three were separated (outline, rough draft, final) so that a child could easily open one book to use to write the next phase of composition in the next book.
