Silk reeling: package of practices

Mulberry silk cocoons produce silk filament which are grouped together to form mulberry silk yarn. Different processes are involved in silk reeling while converting cocoon to yarn. In this paper, various parameters in cocoon drying, storing, sorting, mixing, cooking, brushing, reeling and re-reeling are discussed. Silk bundling and packing methods are illustrated. Water quality in reeling of raw silk yarn has been highlighted. Finally, check points in silk reeling processes have been described.
