Reigning Miss USA, Silhouette Havana, arrives in Australia to contest the Miss World pageant. The pageant is to be held on the Gold Coast. After preliminary judging she is tipped to take out the title. No sooner is she favourite and an attempt on her life is made by professional assassins. Fearing someone doesn't want her in the pageant, the organisers hire Ashlar Roman. He works for a private investigations and security company and is assigned to protect her around the clock. He's a trained ex-military man who knows his job. The two leads have personality clashes in the beginning. Constant attempts are made on Silhouette's life, all thwarted by Roman and, after training her in the use of firearms, Silhouette herself. When the assassins keep locating them, Roman fears there is a traitor in the security firm. Also, investigations into the incidents by other members of the firm seem to be getting nowhere. Roman suspects his boss, Bill O'Reilly, is the traitor and confronts him about it. O'Reilly denies it point blank and sends Roman and Silhouette out of harms way up to the Whitsundays. It is here that the two realise their true feelings for each other. Despite their rocky beginning they fall in love. But their romantic paradise is upset when they are once again under threat. They are confronted with Frank Zorba, leader of the assassins. He's been hired by a prominent Australian to eliminate Silhouette from the pageant, but refuses to say who or why. The pageant is near. Roman and Silhouette must escape from Zorba and his band of thugs. Roman must also discover who the traitor is, and who is behind the attempts on Silhouette's life. Roman is motivated by a desire throughout the story to do his job well and protect her with his life. Silhouette is driven by a burning ambition to stay alive and win the Miss World crown; a goal she has dreamed of accomplishing for many years. All is on the line in the final climax.
