Beskrivelse
Silencing the Past explores the political history of North African Jews, particularly in Tunisia, in order to shed new light on our understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the current Arab Spring revolutions. This book provides a unique political and personal perspective that relates the current upheavals in the Arab world to the rich and complex Jewish history in the area. Boublil skillfully leads the reader through the political implications of silences surrounding what happened to the North African Jewish community, from centuries ago, all the way to the emergence of Israel in 1948, and to the on-going Jasmine Revolution in Tunisia, which triggered the current Arab Spring.
