Fora goodnumberofrecentpapers,aconsistentcomplaintofthestudentswasthatthe backgroundtotheresearchwasnotadequatelydescribed. Itcanofcoursebeargued that students should research the background. Either way, the need for a good sourceofbackgroundmaterialinordertoappreciatetheresearchpresentedina paperbecameapparenttomeandwastheinspirationfordevelopingthisbook.
