Have you ever felt a beat from your heart to your toes? It catches you by surprise you want to jump out of your seat. Your feet can't stop tapping. You hum right along. Before you know you're a part of the music. It's swing, it's bebop, it's jazz. Two musicians, Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane felt that rhythm and beat from their hearts to their toes. That beat filled them up so much it spilled out into their music. Side by Side is the story of two jazz legends who were born in North Carolina and went on to change the course of music forever.
