The issue of security pervades both the life of individuals and the cohabitation of collective groups. This issue focuses on the perception, appreciation and stabilisation of situations in which risks and dangers are reduced. It also homes in on the tools, methods and measures that ought to be employed when ensuring security. Particularly in complex systems, security becomes an elusive subject, a by-product of which being the restriction of personal freedom, to name an example. Security is becoming relevant in all areas of life - from politics, society, business and law to the world of work, media, technology, ecology and medicine. The way security is dealt with differs from culture to culture.
