Serpent Love: A Mother-Daughter Epic is an intimate, intense, and, yes, courageous exploration of a common story, conflict between mother and adult daughter. In this version, the mother's attempt to help the newly-divorced daughter is definitely not a success. We get the mother's story in poetry - well-meaning love and terrible anger - and then the daughter's honest essay in response. Perhaps the writing - or the reading - makes the mending.
