Beskrivelse
Moments are like fireflies, briefly illuminating the darkness to give us a rare vision of something beautiful. Pay attention on summer evenings when conditions are just right, and you'll see it. Wait too long, and that little bit of luminescent magic is gone. This book is an attempt to capture these rare firefly moments throughout the seasons in and near Highland Park. There was one photo I wanted to take that isn't in this book. On a walk in Donaldson Park, I noticed the stump of a tree that had been damaged by superstorm Sandy. The middle of the top part of the tree was gone, and what remained was a fascinating double helix of white bark. It was beautiful, but when I returned to the park with a camera, the helix was gone. You can see what remained of the tree on one of the pages of this book. It's still beautiful, but not as magical as the firefly moment captured only in my memory. No matter the season, there is beauty in Highland Park. I hope this book will not only show it to you so we can share these firefly moments but help you discover these moments wherever you are and whatever time of year it may be.
