She was the sweet, perky, well-endowed waitress, and he the tall, muscular lumberjack. It was a marriage made in heaven, or so it seems. Irrational jealousy intervenes, and a crime of passion ensues.

Months go by before the crime is discovered. There are many leads from this tight-knit community, but law enforcement remains stymied until a peculiar piece of evidence surfaces.

Set in and around Grand Rapids, Minnesota, in the early 20th century, the book follows the characters as their lives evolve through WWI, Prohibition, and the Great Depression.
