A young and upcoming photographer is found dead in a fire burned home. It turns out it is the same home of one of Lt Diana Reed's first ever cases, Lizzie Marsche, the mother of three that ended up hospitalised at the hands of a drunk and violent husband, who went missing the same night. With the help of their very own chemist Alex Barnes, her team tries to unravel family secrets both past and present.
