After living a quite family life on the Potomac, Robert O'Neal was requested by the US Federal Government to assist Saudi Arabia to build their National Computer Center and train them to use it.The date is November 3, 1976. The O'Neal family arriving in Riyadh was like entering a time machine. They had very little in common with the norms, values, and customs of the people of Saudi Arabia. Money seemed to be falling from the sky. Robert was trained to observe users of the Computer Center and report any foreign organization attempting to access Saudi confidential information. One night during the hotest time of the year, the O'Neals had an intruder climb through a bedroom window and attempt to attack their fifteen year-old daughter. Susan fought with her attacker and hit him in the mouth with her fist. He ran out the front door and was apprehended by the Saudi Police, received thirty lashes and was sent back to North Yemen. Everyone was thankful Sue had a great punch The extremist's siege on the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the takeover of the American Embassy in Tehran happened during their time in Saudi Arabia. Both events impacted their lives in Riyadh and the security of the world. After the Grand Mosque siege, American jets flew low over their villa. American trained Saudi Solders lined the major streets. Their life in the middle-east may no longer be safe?
