Sanguine

Sanguine focuses on a society where the population has dropped so low that the workforce must be subsidized by reviving corpses, also known as the Retroguise process. The reanimated corpses, however, then get addicted to the heroin-like drug that keeps them alive. Adrian, a worker Retroguise who's been unorthodoxly reassigned to be a companion for a government higher up, gets first hand experience with the corruption that can occur when mass murder becomes economically viable. After one of the increasingly frequent suicide bombings claims the life of his only human friend, Erica, Adrian must dive into the thick of this corruption to find answers to the hardest questions, such as, "Why does Halcyon Tower's coffee taste like cat piss?"
