Bodies are washing up along the banks of San Francisco's Napa River.
Police find four bodies on San Quentin Island and in Napa, each one sexually mutilated and bearing a resemblance to other killings in the San Francisco area. Panic escalates when a man calling himself "Dragonfly," calls into a popular radio program and claims to be the killer.
More gruesome murders will come as police add criminal psychiatrist Dr. William Gandee, a professor at the University of San Francisco, to the task force investigating the crimes. Gandee chooses two graduate students, Miguel De Santiago and homicide detective Hannah James, to join the task force with him.
It will become personal for one of them before they identify the serial killer-will they catch him in time, or will the body count rise again?
