Safety in Lovers

Denae Richmond is the quintessential modern, independent woman. She has even gone so far as to convince herself that she doesn't need love; that respect and success will suffice instead. She surveys her world from a safe, barricaded distance without experiencing the burden of cumbersome relationships or extreme unpredictable emotions like infatuation and passion. She surrounds herself with persons whom she can marginally tolerate while pouring all of her energy into the personal prowess of career and accomplishments. It's not until the introduction of a highly improbable suitor- a reformed, articulate ex-convict named Dennis, that she realizes that the draining sensation she has felt on a daily basis- is loneliness. During the course of their ill-fated relationship, Denae finds that she must confront secrets from her past and dispel her misconceptions about life and love. As Dennis challenges many of her perceptions about wisdom and success, she finds herself caught in the unfortunate, web-like predicament of having to choose between the man with whom she has shared her bed and the man with whom she has shared her dreams....
