Sacred Sistering

Sacred Sistering is designed as a collection of devotions, poems, and prayers to inspire women of color toward an enduring sense of faith, hope, and spiritual direction in life and ministry leadership. The uniqueness of this devotional is found when women of color reflect on the narratives of biblical women, their relationships with each other, and the issues that regulate women to the margins of culture, church, and community. The power lies in how women of color at the intersection of race, gender, and everyday life, find in the biblical narratives their own stories, untold truths, strength, hope, distress, disappointment, comfort, and practices of Sacred Sistering that empower and sustain them.This dynamic devotional tells the varied truth and complexity of Sacred Sistering. Devotions and prayers consist of hopeful and inspiring testimonies reflecting women's experiences and Sistering moments and missed opportunities. Sistering moments have assisted women through difficult transitions, relationships, and growing pains. Seasons in which joys, blessings, and accomplishments have been celebrated; and loneliness, invisibility, and the wounds of disempowerment have been comforted. Times when we have neglected, ignored, and even exploited or oppressed a sister, as well as occasions when we wanted a second chance to be a better sister.
