Why is Rumpelstiltskin never performed as a pantomime? Is it because there's no solid moral? It all begins with a lie; the lie is escalated by greed for gold and even the fairytale marriage is based on the poor miller's daughter being able to provide the King with wealth and not the usual boy-meets-girl, love-at-first-sight plot device. That's why I like it. Because people are not fairytale characters. People really do exaggerate, lie and seek treasure. It has to be said, mind you, in Rumpelstiltskin's case, if you have a grand, master plan that hinges on nobody knowing your name, Don't, I repeat don't, shout it out for anyone to hear. That's just stupid. This pantomime works as well with children and young people as with adults. It's short and sweet and the rhyming couplets are easy to memorise. Please have fun with it.
