Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam

Omar Khayyam was born in Neishabur, Persia, in 1048. Khayyam was famous during his lifetime as an astronomer and mathematician, not as a poet. Khayyam's quatrains are not only just a collection of poems, but also they express brave thoughts about the purpose of life.

Edward Fitzgerald played significant role in making these poems known globally. His translation of Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam is not exact. But it is beautiful and harmonious.
