This volume, a special issue of Studies in Philology, consists of research and critical studies in language and literature in memory of James Finch Royster (1880-1930). It has been edited by a committee of Professor Royster's former students and associates. The thirty-seven articles deal with philology, English literature, and literatures other than English.
