Beskrivelse

It is 1967, Sofija, a member of the Soviet National Team, is preparing to race in the European Rowing Championship in Vichy, France. Just as everything seems to be going well, she is ordered to return to Vilnius from the training camp in Jelgava, Latvia to meet with the feared KGB. She anticipates the worst. As a small child, after World War II, she lived through Soviet repressions when her mother was continually arrested and interrogated by the KGB, leaving her alone for days or weeks in a cold flat. Will Sofija's painful family history prevent her from fulfilling her dream of racing in the most important competition of her career? In the bowels of the KGB she learns that her father, whom she knows only from a photograph, and who is presumed dead, is still alive. He was one of the Polish officers arrested during the Soviet occupation of Poland and brought to the Katyn forest to be executed. How he survived is a mystery. Father and daughter are separated from each other by the Iron Curtain. Will Sofija manage to break through that wall and see her father?
