Rite of Passage

Mary Eastland's Rite of Passage forewarns the reader from the get-go. (Not for Children.) So, out of respect for that alert, this piece must spare certain vital details that might set off alarms. In short, Rite of Passage is an engaging, sometimes fun-sometimes serious invitation for anyone over fifty to rekindle their own steps from innocent youth to not-so innocent young adult: emancipation, summer camp, best buddies, college capers, some "firsts" not to be mentioned here, and a few situations that might set the hair up on the back of one's neck. The illustrations delightfully punctuate her steps along the way. The end note gives the reader pause for more serious reflection as the author describes her spiritual awakening. A must read for all who love happy memories.
