Product Description
From the cosmopolitan seaport of Trieste to war-ravaged Verona, Rita's War tells the tragic true story of one woman coming of age against the brutal backdrop of the Second World War.
From her sheltered upbringing as a young Jew in the bourgeois surroundings of pre-war Trieste, to her first tentative encounters with the Jewish underground movement, as well as her ill-fated engagement and illicit affair with a charismatic colonel who is also on the run from the fascist authorities.
Rita's War is a story of migration and hope, persecution and despair, courage, heroism and betrayal, culminating in the hills above Verona, where Rita finally comes face to face with her Nazi oppressors.About the Author
