This research is presented in two sections: Background on the Controversy of the Battle of Red Fork and Revisiting the Battle of Red Fork.
The research has accumulated every scrap of information relating to the battle that could be located and has evaluated the arguments forwarded by those seeking to place the battle. In initiating the initial research core considerations were to take a neutral position in placing the battle near Mannford and NW of Yale. Since that time, it has become obvious that there is no real controversy and the controversy lingers for reasons that have little to do with the battle.
Considering the amount of information that is available in placing the battle, there is nothing simple about sorting through the information and understanding and accepting that quite a number of researchers had good but academically flawed approaches to their research. The capacity of the human mind to let personal bias color intellectual endeavors is amazing. Sensitivity of the situation, people's need to stir up the controversy, and in one case a flat refusal to help were encountered.
