Tiffany Ellenberger's happy for now seems to reach the happy ever after points in her life. She makes sacrifices that appear to be worth every moment. Tiffany has everything except a child of her own. The three degrees tops off with passing the Bar after two tries.
Tiffany's dream wedding goes off without a hitch after changes in date and time. After a complicated honeymoon, Tiffany's life changes once again, and not for the best.
How does a woman working on the right side of the law and love a man coming close to a long jail term? How long will their marriage last? Tiffany must work for changes to keep her and Launce on the right side of a jail cell.
The bean counters and operating officers want to be sure the Privette International Escort Agency will continue to serve its clients after the fearless leader marries Tiffany.
"Do you understand what we are dealing with now? None of our clients wish to see their names on the front page of any newspaper."
"Yes, Mr. Pembroke. Launce is my husband. I want nothing to happen to him."
Within the time the ink dries on the marriage certificate, Tiffany stares at Launce's death certificate.
"Yes. Launce Privette is dead. The owner died. The Stakeholders want to be sure their privacy and interest remains the same."
"What do you plan to do to assure everyone nothing will change?"
"I will issue statements, show our current policies, and prove my good faith. But you want changes, Michael. You want to skate on the edges of illegality. We can't press our luck."
"Yes. I want changes to increase profits. No one will force the escorts to do anything against their will. We want to increase revenue by offering more than the soft version of escorting."
"No. You want to put in place brothels where they are not legal. I can't let that go on. As Launce Privette widow, I can't let you take the agency down the wrong path."
"Listen to me, Mrs. Tiffany Privette, there is a reason you are a widow less than a year after you became a bride. Before you set on your high brow ethics, remember the man you loved and buried, and you could be next."
"If death isn't an accident or natural causes, murder has a motive. Is that what you are telling me? Do you know something more about Launce's death?"
"The preference is that you don't follow your husband to the grave. Speaking for myself, I prefer you in my bed instead of dead, " Michael Lukas says to Tiffany, looking over the rim of his sunglasses.
Will Tiffany's happiness end in sadness, death or more of the same old life?
