On what was supposed to be a routine exploration mission, a portal opens and ships crewed by Humans from a different Universe arrive to invade the Terran Republic. Space from the old Ra'ma'nen Territories to near Earth orbit erupt in savage fighting as a long dead political force attempts to take control and destroy the Interstellar Alliance.
Admiral Jefferson Powers enters the fray, aided by two copies of himself, a defector from the invading Universe and one from yet another Universe. They join forces to fight the greatest threat to freedom along multiple timelines.
