Plastics manufacturing and production grew exponentially during and after World War II. The OECD estimates that global production of plastic increased from two million tons of plastic per year in 1950 to more than 400 million tons per year today. This book examines plastics recycling challenges in the United States and discuss new and emerging technologies to reduce the lifecycle environmental impact of plastic.
