Just before our marriage in 1998, I, April Carlson-Depuy, purchased AAPiekna, a spirited 17-year-old Polish Arabian broodmare. Luckily, Don, a professional horseman, entered my life and helped me learn to handle AAPiekna.



Our story took an unexpected turn when the Humane Society called Don, asking for help to rescue 18 starved and neglected horses. These terrified animals needed a gentle hand, and Don, with his God-given gift and knowledge passed down from his grandfather, was the perfect person for the job.



"Rescue Horses and Their Stories" recounts the incredible journey of these horses, particularly three special fillies-Puddin, Brook, and LaSheena-who came home with us. Through patience, compassion, and unwavering dedication, Don and I helped these magnificent creatures heal and thrive.
