"Rent-A-Girlfriend 1" by Reji Miyajima is the first volume of a entertaining manga rom-com set in modern day Japan.

Kazuya, a young college freshman, is deeply hurt after a horrible breakup and hates being alone. Feeling desperate he decides to use a rental service to get a date. Using an online dating app Kazuya "rents" a girlfriend for an afternoon and spends the day with the beautiful, stylish and polite Chizuru.

Kazuya isn't happy with how difficult it is to form an emotional connection to a girl, when she only stays with you because you pay her. Things only get worse, when Kazuya realizes that a girl with a completely different personality hides behind Chizuru's dating-persona - she isn't just a pretty face and she is not as sweet or polite as she seemed to be on their date.

In "Rent-A-Girlfriend" while Kazuya gets to know Chizuru, the person behind the persona, Chizuru frantically tries to keep her status as a rented girlfriend secret. It only gets more complicated, when Kazuya and Chizuru realize that their lives are weirdly intertwined in a surprising number of ways.

"Rent-A-Girlfriend 1" is written and illustrated by Reiji Miyajima. This volume contains the first five chapters of the manga.
