Remaining Folly is Richard Beck's love letter to Folly Beach, a chronicle of how this "red-haired stepchild" beach community of the Charleston, S.C. area transformed into the unique, colorful, fun-loving place it is today-filled with an eclectic mix of characters. He takes us on a journey from Folly's first recognition as a place where the sick, dead, and dying of the colonial era were disembarked before entering Charleston through multiple challenges to its existence and identity. Each step of its transformation from wilderness island to thriving beach town is recounted with devoted care.
