A complementary title to Maggie Durran's book, "Regenerating Local Churches" which is a practical how-to manual, this volume will focus on the actual experience of local churches in a diverse area of London that includes traditional housing estates, new urban developments and a glittering financial district, as they have responded to the challenges of mission in their particular locations. Very much in line with 'mission-shaped' thinking, here is a book that explores many new expressions of church in a way that will both inform and inspire others who are faced with similar challenges. The stories are accompanied by theological reflection on the processes and the effects. Some of the themes explored are: how to build congregations, starting from scratch, ministry among the office blocks, church and community projects, co-operation and resistance, becoming person-focused.
