Cullinan constructs a new understanding of redemption rooted in women's stories of struggle, hope, and enduring love. Women's voices add a much-needed dimension to theological reflection on human brokenness and God's response; their stories enable us to glimpse a new way of speaking about the redemptive work of Christ and the process of redemption at work in our lives. Cullinan considers several contemporary novels, including Toni Morrison's Beloved and E.M Broner's A Weave of Women, and, in conversation with the stories told by and about Jesus, a vision of redemption emerges that emphasizes the wholeness of our experience, the presence of God in our lives, and the power of storytelling to shape our understanding of the present and future.
