From the debris and sinister silence that followed the 1921 Tulsa riots, this engaging and humorous autobiography of William Vernon Ashley Jr parallels the regrowth of the Greenwood black community in that city. Formerly known as the 'Black Wall Street, ' the re-emergence of this area was based around the Arts and Sporting achievements, as well as established professions. The story follows his progression through the fifties and more relaxed sixties.
