We all know how the story goes. The Aliens invade Earth. They begin to slaughter humanity but somehow mankind rises up and saves itself; we create some superweapon, one man inspires the entire species, we infect their computers with a computer virus, etc. Or perhaps it is the Earth itself that saves us. Because extremely advanced aliens who travel untold thousands of lightyears across the galaxy to get to us apparently can't develop cures for other planets diseases. In the end the stories end with mankind standing victorious and going on to liberate the galaxy whilst setting ourselves up as the head of some new Interstellar Order.
