FATIMA "FATTY" DEDRICKSON always had a feeling that she would someday leave her home in Stockholm, Sweden, but it wasn't until President Thomas S. Monson himself personally told her she was needed in Utah that she decided to act on that prompting. But the jump across the world was anything but easy: Already trilingual, she struggled to learn English as a fourth language while already attending classes at BYU. She fought against loneliness and self- esteem issues that stemmed from being half a world away from her family. And she wrestled with a social media addiction that was affecting her relationship with her husband and children.
BUT BETWEEN THE HARDSHIPS, her leap of faith has also brought indescribable blessings into her life: a successful career as a blogger and athlete, amazing new friends who supported her through her trials, and a deepened faith and trust in the Lord to always be there when she needs Him the most.
