Raptors, or birds-of-prey, are a very special and important aspect of any wilderness. They often hunt other birds or animals to survive and are at the top of the avian food chain. Raptors usually feed on rodents, smaller birds and insects. Some raptors catch grouse and rabbits while others feed by scavenging on salmon carcasses or road-killed wildlife.
