Utilization data are important in evaluating the effects of grazing and browsing on specific areas of rangeland administered by the Bureau of Land Management for livestock, wildlife, wild horse, and wild burro use. Utilization is generally expressed as a percentage of available forage weight or number of plants, twigs, etc., that have been consumed or destroyed.
