If your little one is just starting out at coloring, then of course you wouldn't give overly complex images to work with. Beginning colorists are still learning to grip crayons at exactly the right pressure that would result in fewer broken crayons and mess. Don't get frustrated if your child colors all over the page. That's normal for beginners.
