Quaker Theology is a progressive, twice-yearly Journal and Forum for Discussion and Study. Founded in 1999, it publishes essays, reports and reviews on matters relating to the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). This issue includes: > an article on the influence of psychoanalysis an popular psychology on liberal Quaker thought and practice; > a narrative theology essay about one Friend's connection to the land, and how that has shaped the evolution of his faith; > a historian's retrieval of the Quaker role in the famous Alger Hiss Communist spy case of the late 1940s, including the Quaker journey of Whittaker Chambers, the key witness against Hiss; > an exclusive account of how North Carolina Yearly Meeting got to the brink of a complete split, and then drew back; > a review of "Our Life Is Love," by Marcelle Martin; > and a review os "Quiet Heroes," that pays tribute to the role of Friends in support of and advocacy for Japanese-Americans who were interned without trial in World War Two.
