Beskrivelse
The purpose of this ebook is to create the "go to" information resource for all aspects of neutron scattering: theory, experiment and data processing/analysis. What's more, the intention is to create a multifaceted text that will engage readers at multiple levels - i.e. undergraduate and postgraduate students; the interested researcher; the infrequent user of neutron facilities/techniques; and the specialist scientist seeking to expand investigations beyond their core discipline and domain knowledge. The subjects covered will be extensive and over-arching, spanning elementary and advanced topics under the following core themes: - Structure - elastic scattering, including diffraction crystallographic/Rietveld (powder diffraction) analysis; magnetic structures; protein structures; pair distribution analysis; small-angle scattering and reflectometry. - Dynamics - inelastic and quasielastic neutron scattering, including phonons, magnons, spin density waves, etc; vibrational and torsional dynamics (neutron equivalent to Raman and IR). - Imaging/radiography - neutron tomography; neutron resonant imaging; energyselective imaging; energy-dispersive imaging; polarized and phase-contrast imaging. - Theoretical considerations and modelling methods will also be included to guide analysis and understanding of the above topics.
