Proverbial Wisdom

Almost every culture or worldwide language has its own collection of sayings. Many have the same truths or similar themes and most are imbued with a moral message. These sayings may be called a proverb, adage, aphorism, motto, saw, axiom, dictum or maxim. Proverbs come from many different sources but their main objective is universal. A proverb serves as a guideline for life. A method of teaching and encouraging, leading and advising, in the form of an observation, words of advice, or an attitude about a situation.
