This dissertation examines the protection of women during armed conflict, focusing on the case of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) from 1997 to the present day. It examines the sexual and gender-based violence suffered by women in wartime, and the measures taken to protect them. The author analyzes the factors contributing to this vulnerability, such as culture, poverty and impunity, and proposes recommendations for improving the situation.
