Beskrivelse
The Kingdom of Israel was led by the likes of wicked Ahab and his pagan wife Jezebel. As a result, the citizens of Israel had mostly turned their backs on God. Why would Elijah and Elisha remain in this sinful land, when the righteous Kingdom of Judah was just a short distance away? Logic dictates that if these two great prophets had pulled up their tent stakes and moved to Judah, they could have done much more for the Kingdom of God. But, they didn't.
What does that mean to us modern-day Christians? All around us, we see that society has embraced immorality and sin. Not only are our fellow citizens immersed in all sorts of debauchery, they are celebrating their immorality, going so far as to loudly proclaim that we should be teaching our children to join them. From the highest level, our government is doing everything in its power to destroy our society and take it to the lowest of lows.
A Christian's natural instinct is to hunker down, huddle up with fellow Christians, and stay as far as possible from those who hate God. But, is that the right thing to do? Elijah and Elisha would say, "Absolutely not!" Even though things looked bleak, these two prophets continued being witnesses to their lost and sinful brethren.
