Progress in Heterocyclic Chemistry

Although the present edition of Fundamentals of Creep in Metals and Alloys remains broadly up to date for metals, there are a range of improvements and updates that are either desirable, or required, in order to ensure that the book continues to meet the needs of researchers and scholars in the general area of creep plasticity. Besides updating the areas currently covered in the second edition with recent advances, the third edition will broaden its scope beyond metals and alloys to include ceramics, covalent solids, minerals and polymers, thus addressing the fundamentals of creep in all basic classes of materials.The air distribution in occupied spaces is a major issue of public concern. It is widely recognized that the quality of air and the nature of airflow can affect the health of occupants and the energy consumed in buildings and transport vehicles. ROOMVENT is the principal international conference in the field of air distribution. It was first initiated in 1987 by SCANVAC, the Scandinavian Federation of Heating, Ventilating and Sanitary Engineering Associations in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The aim of the Conference is to bring together researchers from universities and research institutes, engineers from industry and government officials and policy makers, with the goal of experiencing the latest techniques for measuring and analyzing indoor air flow, the visualization of indoor air flow patterns, the evaluation of ventilation parameters and the most recent developments in computer simulation techniques of room airflow. It is hoped that the theme of ROOMVENT 2000 "Ventilation for Health and Sustainable Environment" will set the scene for room air distribution research and development for the new millennium.This is the fifteenth annual volume of Progress in Heterocyclic Chemistry, which covers the literature published during 2002. The volume opens with three reviews on current heterocyclic topics. The highlight chapters in Volume 15 are all written by leading researchers in their field and these chapters constitute a systematic survey of the important original material reported in the literature on heterocyclic chemistry in 2002. As with previous volumes in the series, Volume 15 will enable the reader to keep abreast of developments in heterocyclic chemistry in an effortless way.
