Prof. Dr Guloren Tekinalp graduated as a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Istanbul in 1958 and became a research assistant and lecturer in Private International Law at the same university in 1959. She has been lecturing in Nationality Law, Foreigners Law and Conflict of Laws at the graduate and post-graduate levels since that date. She obtained her doctorate in 1965 from the University of Istanbul before which she spent two years at the Freie Universitat, Berlin, as a guest academician in the academic years of 1962-1964.In 1970, she was appointed as an associate professor of the University of Istanbul and as a professor in 1978. Apart from Private International Law subjects, she has also been lecturing in European Law at graduate and post-graduate levels.Professor Dr Glren Tekinalp served as the Director of the Centre for Research and Practice in International Law and Relations (Centre) at the Faculty of Law of Istanbul University from 1994 until her retirement in December2002 The preparatory work on the draft of a new PIL started first at an academic level in 2000 by the Centre, while she was still leading it, reached its goal in 2007 by the adoption of the new PIL. She continued to work on the draft upon the request of the Academic Commission although she retired from Istanbul University in 2002. Professor Tekinalp was elected as the Chairman of the Commission of the Ministry of Justice established in 2004 and entrusted with the task of preparing the new PIL and she continued her work until its adoption.Prof. Dr Glren Tekinalp publishes extensively, books and various Articles, in the areas of private international law, law on foreigners as well as law on the European Union.She is also a member of the Association of Turkish Women Lawyers.
