The book tells the histories of the famous Manchester United team who beat Benfica 4-1 at Wembley in May 1968, from the viewpoint of their genealogical, social, occupational and military history. It takes the reader through the Agricultural and Industrial Revolution, two World Wars and the Great Depression, telling the tales poverty, deprivation and heroism of the ancestors of the likes of Busby, Charlton, Best, Stiles, Sadler and Stepney.
