Anyone who reads, watches, or listens to the news these days knows that the political perspective on life events¿-¿and especially ecological disasters¿-¿can be unconvincing at best. The responses and opinions offered by some politicians range from platitudes to propaganda, and often look more like efforts to besmirch the reputations of their political opponents than attempts to discover the truth behind a calamity.
