Prayerful Responsibility

This study examines the problem of relating prayer and social responsibility through an analysis and critical evaluation of the religious thought of Douglas Steere, a leading Quaker thinker and a key figure in twentieth century spirituality. Copenhaver clarifies Steere's solution to the dilemma and establishes a dialogue between a classical Quaker and a liturgical approach to the problem as a foundation for further study in the academy and in the churches.
