You just have ten seconds to make your point. The first impression has a profound effect. Your first picture is your most transparent autobiography. It emerged out of nowhere in a new acquaintance's eyes, leaving a lasting impression. Artists are occasionally able to capture that vivid vision and transient emotional responses. Famous cartoonist and one of my friends, Robert Grossman frequently works with esteemed publications. Bob has a unique talent in that he can not only accurately reproduce the appearance of drawings but also their personalities. Hundreds of well-known characters' bodies and souls are vividly portrayed in his artwork. It only takes a quick glance to 'get' the personality of a famous person. I once questioned Bob about how he was able to capture people's characteristics so perfectly while I was at his studio. It's simple, I just glance at them, he said in response.
